Tips & Info

Walk Accessibility Guide

(Note: this is a rough guide only.)

1 Easy Access (mostly level, hard surfaces; fully wheelchair accessible.)

2 Partially accessible (e.g. kerbs, busy pavements, some gradients – mobility-restricted walkers and chair users may require assistance.)

3 Limited Access e.g. steps, uneven terrain, steep or narrow paths (likely to be inaccessible to chair users, but please contact us to discuss.)

Clothing

It can be very cold and windy along the Wildlife Trail and there is little shelter, making it cold in winter and a sun trap in summer. We recommend you wear layers you can remove if you get hot and take sunscreen.

Refreshments

There are no refreshments available for the major part of the route of the Wildlife Trail – we recommend you take water and snacks with you.

Stay Safe

There is limited mobile phone signal at the Naze, on the Wildlife Trail. Please collect a printed map leaflet from the tower before setting off rather than relying on your mobile phone for the route.

Brass Rubbings – Little Explorer

The signs of the Little Explorer trail have been designed so you can do brass rubbings of them – please bring along paper and crayons if you would like!

Visit the Town

We are keen to encourage visitors to visit the town and the Naze. Check out the visitor information page for more ideas on things to do for the whole day in Walton!
