Hamford Water National Nature Reserve is an Area of
Outstanding Natural Beauty and the reserve is a major
global migratory route for tens of thousands of birds as
well as a large breeding seal colony which we’ll visit
on this trip. Using sit-on-top kayaks, we’ll be able to
watch the seals without disturbing them and we have
lunch and some quiet time amongst the colony. This a
great opportunity to do what few people ever do in the
UK, particularly along the Essex coast.
Our sit-on-top kayaks are designed for angling and they
are large, stable and fast and form the perfect platform
for ‘novice’ paddlers - we also offer double sit-on-top
kayaks. Our trips are launched from Titchmarsh Marina at
Walton-on-the-Naze and the day includes secure parking,
hot showers and all the equipment needed for the trip
into the estuary including your kayak, paddle, buoyancy
aid and dry bags/watertight drums. There is a good
restaurant on site which also has a bar and beer garden
and beautiful view of the marina. These trips are 3
hours long and we take groups of 8 paddlers in the
morning (10am to 1pm) and afternoon (2pm to 5pm)
