The Walton Maritime Museum records Walton’s close association with the sea, its impact on the town’s social history and the local lifeboat’s contribution. Fossil and flint collections display Walton’s internationally important geology.
A special exhibition highlights the local community’s war involvement, the effort and restraints on local life during WW1 and WW2.
Please note all our fossils were recovered from the seashore. It is illegal to excavate from the Naze Cliffs which are a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
